Minor in Writing

I decided to pursue a minor in writing because I have enjoyed crafting stories all of my life. As the daughter of an English major, reading and writing for fun was heavily promoted in my household. Anytime I would grouse about being bored as a child, my mother always had the same answer--go read a book.

I enjoy writing of all sorts, especially writing short stories, and the Minor in Writing program helps to develop a variety of writing techniques. In the Gateway course, this development  was achieved through experimentation on a single, original piece of text. The links below will take you through the work I've done in the Gateway course, from the original text I chose, the experiments I did on it, and the radical changes that followed.
